Hi, how do you do this? 3(2x- 3)= 24 ..please show steps..I need to learn How to get the answer not just the answer..Thanks!
and this too.. 2x + 5 = 6x - 15 this is for my hw that I really need help on

The first thing you need to do is get rid of the parentheses. So on the left side, multiply the 2x-3 by 3 - that will give you 6x -9 =24. Then you want to end up with all the x's on one side, and all the whole numbers on the other, so add 9 to each side.
This gives 6x=33. Then to find the value of x, divide both sides by 6 - that gives you x=5 1/2.

Check your answer by putting the value for x back into the original equation and see if it comes out right. 3(2*5 1/2 - 3 = 24 or
3(11-3)=24 or 3*8=24 or 24=24, so you know you're correct.

Try the second one yourself. Start by adding 15 to each side, then subtract 2x from each side, then divide by 4. Give it a try - you can do it.
