On most Universal Pictures DVDs, they have a trailer at the beginning to promote upcoming dvds...my question is: the first clip is of a man snapping open a lighter (the trailer usually ends with the lighter snapping closed)...what movie is this from? It looks so familiar, but I can't place it (the man is wearing a gray suit and has bandages--I think-- on his fingers)... Thanks! :)

no, I don't think it was either of those, because the bandages don't cover his whole hands...they're more like bandaids (but look like medical tape)

Surely you have it shelved somewhere in the back of your mind, that this little snippet is from the 1998 Steven Soderbergh production of "Out of Sight", which starred George Clooney (there's those bandaged fingers, and that lighter you were talking about), Jennifer Lopez, Dennis Farina, Ving Rhames, and Luis Guzman.

That would most likely be from "The invisible man" He had to cover himself with bandages to be seen.
