Would you recommend laser hair removal on a darker complexion? I've been doing some research and they say dark-skinned people are not the best canidates for laser hair removal. Any advise? Has anyone that's dark skinned ever had a laser removal?

You can get it done but it will probably take more treatments. If the average person needs 6 treatments, you may need 10. Also, make sure to use a system that best matches your needs. Some of the ND:Yag and RF machines do a better job with darker skin tones.

The attached site lists technology information and has providers that utilize the various pieces of equipment.

yes it does work on darker skinned people. i had it done and got wonderful results, all my chin hair was gone and i have a darker complexion. what people dont understand about laser hair removal is that it is a maintenance process. after the hair is gone, you will have to get 2-3 touchups each year to maintain the results. this goes for any nationality.

it will probably take you longer to get the treatments done. and the way my doctor explained it to me is that the laser cannot differentiated between dark hair and dark skin. it is looking for the dark color so to speak. so that's why it doesn't work on gray hair, blonde hair or dark skin very well.

you can still do it, but just might take longer than somebody with light skin and dark hair.

I worked in a spa that offered laser hair removal. Yes, the laser does not work well on blonde, peach fuzz hair. It is much more successful on dark, coarse hair.
