respected...my family owns several biz there and also a farm...have been there a long time.

Mine's uncommon and often mispronounced down here in the south. It's "Sowa"(pronounced exactly as it looks but southerners find ways to rape it). It's Polish and means owl, but nevermind that now. I can't say that it's respected by everyone, but the ones who know that my dad is retired from the Navy respect it. We're a small town with a Naval Station, so that's pretty big here.

We're transplants from a neighboring town that got bought up by a gabillionaire and so many people from there, have moved here....so things really haven't changed that much for me over the years...

I get laughed at . . . because then they know I'm Polish, or they start speaking to me in Polish even though I don't know the language, just got stuck with the name.
