It is very hard to say as there are varying degrees, from people who are only mildly affected to the ones who are extreme

I often wonder if bi-polar disease is really a mental illness... or just another excuse for a person to get mad on purpose.

I think it's just an excuse people use... "Oh! I'm bi-polar and I can't help cussing my head off."

I know of 4 and I don't think that they are even aware that they have bi-polar

very common 1 out of 1000 have it and most don't get it check out they just think it is a split personality.

It is fairly common and often goes un-treated..
The Manic phase usually results in affairs / cheating...
