Really surprising especially when more than semi-nude films are allowed to be shown in public! Perhaps, judiciary needs to 'activate' in such cases so that the Most Important Cases Affecting Human Lives (like in Nandigram, Singur) could be deferred for some more time, enabling the Govt. to hush up cases & reports and further pressurise poor people to surrender to the Govt. sponsored hooligans ! The higher courts, in many past cases, had taken exception to some such apparently imprudent decisions of lower courts. Let us hope that the Judiciary would do the best under such circumstances.

I think the whole thing is stupid. I mean, I respect all cultures but it seems out of hand. If an Indian actor kissed an American actress, especially in that funny and friendly way, no one would care. The people make a big deal out of the whole situation are probably just bigots. Oh, and they are probably mad because they wish they could have kissed her. Jealousy is an evil weapon!

"Because any display of affection in public is considered wrong...regardless if both couples are consenting adults. It is a cultural thing. "
Unlike rape, cat calling, and the whole lecherous imaginings that are demonstrated on a regular basis by many Indian men.
That's okay.
But kiss a woman on the cheek -- hold on brother.
Yet another example of the gross hypocrisy demonstrated by many men in the world.

Well due to indias mindset they wouldnt like it. But people under 25 now I would say wouldnt care if people made out. Its only the people who are 25+ who react like that.
Plus most of the people who want them jailed are Shiv Sena members who are hindus. Other than them no one really cares.

hi.....kissing and doing any other stuff like that is considered completely not cultural in our country....we dont kiss each other in public nor do we do any thing more than that in public....if he wants to do that!...we'll there are hundreds of other places....not in India anyway!.....i completely agree to what the politicians have done to protest against it....on seeing such small KISSING SHOOTOUTS...our children tend to ...you know.....well,so that not only makes it not cultural but also simply SENSFUL!

Richard Gere is hated everwhere, and for good reason. He's annoying in America and not suprisingly annoying in Asia too.
