how to make local movies can compete with international movies?

Here in the USA, our 'local' Hollywood movies don't have to compete with International/Foreign Films. They have to compete with US Films for theatre space and are not the mainstream by any means. Now, if you're from 'Bollywood', then I would imagine you're having to compete with lots of countries with the majority of movies from the US. But I'd be guessing since that's not where I'm from ;-)
