As long as it's not violent then it's legal, that doesn't mean that you won't get in trouble by the schools administration.
May I ask what you are protesting? That may help us decide how you could best protest.
I protested when I was in high school, I ended up getting in a bit of trouble, but it was worth it=) Just make sure it is something that you are willing to take a little heat for.

sure it's legal, but they'll punish you all the same.
most likely on a charge that you're inciting other students, missing classes, being out without a hall pass.
most likely to affect any kind of change you'll have to do it within the system.
get a petition signed, start a student action committee to remedy problems around the school.
but as far as staging a sit-in or picketing on your lunch period, you're probably asking for trouble and not a little detention.
however if it is kinda serious, you could always turn to the ACLU (t-shirt censorship, pledging allegiance, etc. they've defended students for years. look up their casework and see if you get some help.)
-----
If you have a problem, if no-one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire (in this case, solicit for pro bono representation) the ACLU.

You can't. You get no "legal" rights until you are 18, and even then, not many for protesting. K-12 schools are glorified babysitters. Just study and become a lawyer and join the ACLU.

High school isn't the place to cause disruptions.
Each school and school board sets policy for the campus, so I doubt you can "legally" protest at all.
Save it for after school.

it depends..you do not have the right to disrupt the educational proces...so if you intend to protest after school hours for the media...more power to you
If you intend to protest and cause a disturbance during school hours you can rightfully be suspended.

Protest by transferring to another school if you don't like it. You can also have your parents pay to send you to a private school.

you can't on school property in most places so need to do it across the street- usually in front of the principal's office - board of education offices are good too. See if you need a permit for more than 25 to gather in one spot according to your town laws- good luck :)
