for the better or do you think it will alter it. I do like most of my voices attributes but i lack in breathing techniques. I just don't want to lose the originality of my voice.

GOOD singing lessons should HELP you jeep the originality of your voice, even teach you how to create your own singing style. I play guitar in a local band. Our vocalist has a great raspy female voice - very unique. She started very raw, but develped it - of all things - from a singing lessons at home kit. It improved her singing a lot - you'd be amazed (in fact - we're setting our hopes for the band high because of her!). try looking at ReviewsNest.com - the reviews site where she read about the course she bought: http://www.reviewsnest.com/SingingLessons/index.htm . They give free reviews for several courses, tell U what to look for in a course, what are the best courses around, and what u get in each course they checked.
Shane - our vocalist - bought the top course, but says the 2nd choice is good too - your call.
Good luck with your singing!

it doesn't hurt to take some lessons even if if it will change your singing right now. then after you have learned some of the techniques singers use then you can inculcate them with your original voice that you had preferred or even after taking lessons you may find a better way to sing and even improve on what you had liked before. .

If you want to become a better singer and you can't afford expensive lessons with vocal coaches you should really try online programs. This one:

http://howtosing.toptips.org

in my opinion is the best online step-by-step system designed to improve your singing voice.

Whether you are a beginner or you have some singing skills, this tool can help you gain amazing vocal control, develop excellent pitch, unlock great tone, improve your vocal power, gain precise vocal agility, increase your vocal range and learn advanced signing techniques.

I used it and I saw great results. That's why I recommend it.

Lessons will only alter your voice if you let the teacher force you to alter your voice. You have control of your voice and unless it really sucks the teacher shouldn't be trying to change your actual voice and should be focusing on techniques, excercises, theory, etc.
It's all in your hands, no-one can force your voice to change because your the only one who can use it!
Good luck!

ya singing lessons help. but i firmly believe that above all else, that singing in the shower greatly improves your voice. the acoustics are the best. that is, at least, what i have found over my singing career.

with the right voice coach, you should. just have them teach you the breathing.
I don't think it would alter your voice anyway.
