Put the key in the trunk lock and turn it to open and hold it. Then take a screwdriver and put it in the latch and pull down on it to open the latch up. Same thing for a door latch in the same situation.

If you look in where the latch is you'll see what looks like a bar, when you flip it open it will look like a u and it will be ready to receive the post or loop to lock again.

Get the key in and turn it, stick your finger or a screwdriver in and flip the lever open. Depending on what kind of latch it is you might be able to do it without the key as well.

The important thing is the lever has to be in the open position to receive the locking post (loop).

I'd say take the trunk cover off and then take apart the trunk latch...then you'll see a little piece that's all disfigured go to an auto store (i suggest O'reilly's autoparts) ask them to get you another piece jst like it (they'll know what you're talking about. it'll cost like 10$ for the little piece...then go put the latch back together...very simple process and reattach the cover...or just go to a mechanic and ask them to fix your trunk latch...that'll prolly cost about 75$, but is faster safer and easier

i own a shop and if you,ll put the key in it or have some one trip the lever ,you can take a screw driver and insert it in to the latch and lift up on it and it will open back up,this happens occasionally, but its a quick fix to get it working again, good luck hope this helps.
