I think 'smart' is hard to define. I don't think it necessarily means high IQ, college degree or being a doctor. I think people can be smart in different ways. For example, someone that can compose beautiful music is smart, someone that can make things with their hands is smart, someone who has great people skills is smart. Someone who can cope and survive in bad/poor conditions/situations is smart. You see what I mean. Therefore, a high percentage of people are smart, all in different ways. You are smart for asking this question, all the best.

I think that most of us are average. Some of the most intelligent people I know don't have the common sense God gave a goose. So we are all different and have different talents and approach thinking and learning differently and doing tasks differently. Others of us have the affliction of being naive and trusting and that is not so smart.

I would say out of everyone in America maybe 20% are book smarts, 40% are street smarts...and everyone else is laughing when their fridge light comes on.

it depends on what degree of "smart" you mean. from my perspective, most people today are not very smart. maybe .0000000000001 percent or even less. the people who can benefit at the expense of others or those who excel in something are smart. excel as in being number 1.
