Most 49cc bikes can get up to 30-35 depending on whether the bike has a chain drive or a variator(variable drive pulleys).

If the bike has a chain drive or shaft(like the old Yamahoper), there isn't a lot you can do there except look for restrictions between the carb and intake. Also, check the exhaust pipe where it bolts to the head. If you find a washer welded in there, get it out of there. Loosing these restrictions will allow the bike to breather easier and make more power.

If the bike has a variator system, then pull the variator off and remove the back plate and reassemble with out the plate.
Again check the carb and exhaust for restrictions.

If you had money there are always big bore kits out there as well. Turn that 49cc bike into a mind bending warp capable 63cc moped(that sounded better then it looks).

A good way that will only cost a few cents is to take the head off the engine and remove the copper head gasket. Go and get some .005" copper and cut out a new gasket. This will make more compression and more power. Also use quality fuel like 98 octane to compliment your improved compression. Drill your airbox and the rear of the exhaust. Check to make sure there are no restrictors in either the intake or the exhaust. Should go like a rocket

Go down a big hill.

Just about anything else will cost money. The cheapest might be to try and find different size sprockets. The front drive sprocket can go bigger and/or the rear needs to be smaller.

Install a larger sprocket on the engine, or a smaller sprocket on the rear wheel.

a thanks to make something flow swifter - - flow to the finished of a mountain, works large one way! - Mount 10 of those one hundred-lb Supermagnets to the front, you should be able to hook onto any tractor trailer conveniently. flow as quickly at they prefer. - some mothballs with Naptha in them might want to do the trick...you'll want a motor rebuild after the first holiday, although...assuming you are able to carry on! < caution! that is a shaggy dog tale, and may no longer be tried, because it is going to dissipate the motor! (so i have heard )>

you can throw away all of the excess weight such as body panels for free. As for upgrades, it would depend on the scooter as for where to buy the parts. My first suggestion would be to try and find engine modifications by googling your model.
