Well, if we cant round up 12 million illegal aliens and get them out of the country, how are we gonna round up that many guns?

A law doesn't stop anything. It only kicks in after an offense. I don't recall anyone asking all Americans to be armed with a grenade. What do you consider " those automatic loading weapons? If you mean machine guns, they are very restricted for legal possession and use.

My guess is if all the guns disappeared by magic tonight, tomorrow someone would be making one and many people bent on death and destruction would carry a grenade.

Canada can do whatever they want with their laws. We can do what we want with ours. Death and killing will continue and only the method will change. Yeah, you'd be able to say there were no more gun deaths but then start counting the other deaths. Probably be about the same if not more.

As long as the US constitution allows people to own guns and CARRY Guns, then it's a problem. People with psychotic disorders have no hesitation in using them or people seeking revenge will do so if they have a weapon of mass destruction, ie those automatic reloading firearms. Imagine if everyone is allowed to carry a grenade? So, if it is only allowed to be used at a shooting range in a secure environment, then there isn't going to be a common occurence on the streets. Sure, of course if it hadn't been allowed to proliferate, it would have been easier to control. It is way gone out of control in the states. Canada doesn't allow this sort of right to fire arms.
