so after its all cycled and the swordtail situation is figured out, does nayone have any suggestions to fill out the other levels of the tank with fish?

It almost sounds cliche, but cory catfish are one of the best choices for the bottom levels of a tank. They are active but peaceful little guys. As for the top level, killifish are good, peaceful and colorfish as well as something like hatchetfish. and you can't beat tetras for lower - mid level swimmers.

I agree with the cory cats and a varied tetra mix would also be a great idea. however I won't go with the killfish or any other live breeders. That way it leaves your tank open for fry
