I want to produce a DVD of my own, an educational DVD, a commertial DVD...what are the things I should do?

How can I protect my work to be illigally copied or reproduced.

You can file for a copyright. However, if it is copied in a foreign country, you can't do much, unless you have deep pockets for attorney fees.

When you create the DVDs make sure you use CSS, region protection, and macrovision copy protection. They can only protect casual copying though. CSS has been long broken.
(You will need to use a licensed DVD maker).
