All of them! Best one is Ft. Mill, SC just south of the border from Charlotte, NC. Ft. Mill has good schools if you have kids. It's also very near Lake Wylie. Tega Cay has waterfront homes. It's like a resort living community.

And being near Charlotte there are good job opportunities, night life, shopping, NFL, and NBA sporting events. Go Panthers!

Columbia is not bad either. Myrtle Beach is a great vacation spot, but no jobs that pay anything.

Relatively speaking, South Carolina has a fairly average cost of living, judging from the composite national range. Since you're inquiring under the category of real estate, the market value of land and estate around major cities are still very reasonable, and obviously continuously cheaper in the rural surroundings the further out you drift. Most notably, unlike its neighboring states and U.S. in general, the S.C. real estate market has been surprisingly stable. Aside from a few rapidly developing areas, namely resort-permeated coastal regions, there hasn't been any noticeable rise for years.
