Why do you have 2 dsl modems? Do you have 2 DSL accounts? If you have just one account only one modem should be used..What is the model of your homeportal? If you are using latest versions then you can hook up 4 pcs to the ports or also go wireless with it, try to check also if the modem is plugged in properly to the jack where there is dsl service..check all connections

The ethernet cables should run from each computer to the hub connections on the homeportal. A single ethernet cable should run from the modem port (usually the first one) to one of the modems. Turn off the homeportal and the modem, then turn on the modem and wait till the lights settle down, then power up the homeportal til the lights settle down - it should show lights for Internet and ethernet connection. When that is stable, you should be able to do internet access on both computers. Put the other modem away some place.

Only 1 ADSL modem can be used on a Service Line, The use a of a router or hub is required to facilitate 2 computers.
OR if the ADSL modem excepts a USB Ethernet connection you could use one computer to access the ADSL modem via the USB, and use a Ethernet cross over cable between the two Ethernet adapters in each computer to build a LAN and enable Internet Access sharing on the WAN gateway computer.

Try getting a wireless receiver for one of the computers. It will put less traffic on the modems and use less power.

You need 2 IP addresses, one for each computer. Ask your ISP about this.

If your ISP provides just one IP address, you will need to activate DHCP in you 2wire and it will assign IPs to your computers.

If your ISP provides more than one IP, ask if they are dynamic (DHCP in this case pls verify the properties of your network connection and activate DHCP), if not, you need information to configure your network connections.
