I am nineteen years old, and I've never gotten my period. I've gone to doctors and all they told me was "Oh, you will get it soon sweetie. Just be patient." The problem is I'm getting really worried about it, is there something wrong with me?

If your really concerned, tell your doctor that you want more information. Don't hesitate to ask your doctor questions etc. If your doctor doesn't seem too concerned try doing research on your own and if you find something interesting discuss it with your doctor. This is my advice. Also if your close to your parents/guardians talk to them.

Usually girls get thier periods around 12. If you get it later than 16 you may have some serious helth problems. Tell then you STILL haven't gotten it (unless you jsut went to the doctor.) It isn't normal if you are 19 and haven't gotten your period.

I would talk to your females in your family (mom, aunt or sister) & see when they started, this way you will know what is normal for your family. I think, it is rather late not to have gotten your period. Are under weight? Do you exercise a lot. I would also get a 2nd opinion & have some hormone & blood test run to see what's going on with your body. :)

When did they tell you that? When you were 15?

It is not normal anymore. Yes, there is something wrong and you need to go to an endocrinologist, and maybe a geneticist too.

Oh, by the way: nutrition and physical activity can explain a delayed menarche but you have entered into a category of primary amenorrhea.

No honey there is nothing wrong with you. Some woman just get them later in life. I was 9 years old and wish It had been later in life. Just be careful and have safe sex, if you are having sex because I know you can still get pregnant. I had a sister that came on later in life and thought that she was safe but she ended up with a child at a young age. Just be thankful that you have not started yet and enjoy the freedom. Because when you do state you will wish you never had (Smile)!

Well, since you're 19 already, it's probably not a good thing that you haven't had your period. Never getting your period isn't going to affect you health-wise, but will cause not being able to reproduce. I would go see a gyno.

well, i started when i was 12 but all women start at different times. some people get their periods whenever their mothers got theirs, that was not true in my case, my mom started at 16, sister at 14, and me at 12. but i say u should talk to your dobtor about getting on birth control pills. that will make u start.
good luck

you need tosee a different doctor because i dont think that is normal , you should have had your period for a long time already and you need to get to the bottom of what is going on with your body .

You may have PCOS or some other hormonal problem. I'd be more forceful with the doctor and ask why they aren't looking into it by now. It's not completely abnormal it is uncommon.

my sister didn't get her period until she was 17 years old. if you're really athletic it's common to get your period late. if doctors say that it's ok i don't think there's anything wrong but maybe you should try a different doctor.
