Recently there was an article in yahoo "Rahul Khanna campaigns to save elephants." this article raises a lot of concern for the welfare of elephants which I love and respect. But it is not enough if we just raise questions!! I think we need some solutions as well. How can I volunteer to help these majestic animals?? How can I contribute towards it?

First of all, don't buy any items made from elephant hides, tusks, or any part of the animal. The poachers are the ones reaping the profits from their slaughter. Since Africa is generally a poor country, the three main ways for the locals to make a living is poaching animals (like the elephant), cut and clear of the forrests (to plant crops), and tourism.
So one way we can help with the problem is to object loudly and then advise others to not travel to the parts of Africa where they are abusing and pillaging the animals. Once it hits their immediate welfare, they will think twice.
Also suppost US and European groups trying to save these animals. Search on the internet and several sites will pop up with connections to the Elephants in Africa. Do not support groups in Africa as some can be phoney or scams. Make sure you check out the organization well and that it has roots here or Europe.
Thanks for your part in saving these wonderful animals, it is a worthy cause. And we can try to keep them from extinction.

Dear friend it is not only elephants but many other animals like tigers, lions, cheetahs,bears etc which have to be saved.
THE MAN IS THE MOST DANGEROUS AND CUNNING AND SELFISH ANIMAL in the world and thinks that he has all rights over all animals, birds, fish and trees, rivers and oceans.
He indiscriminately cuts and kills them for food, money and pleasure all other creatures forgetting that GOD has made every little thing in the world to live and serve for some use.
Days are not far when the nature will give back to man with vengeance what he has given to it.

live with the elephants and then you will know what you to do.
