since last week I have @ 4 twentys to come up missing out of my purse, when I confronted them on it they both denied taking it. I would like to know the best way to set a trap so that I can catch the culprit red handed and they can't lie. hurry before I get broke.

That would be awesome, right? Put some kind of ink on the money that would stain their hands or put a bell in the purse so it would make noise when they picked it up and you could come running. Maybe some sneezing powder or cayenne pepper on the money. I hope you tell us what you wind up doing!

Peace!

Okay, what you need to do is wait till both of them are at the house. Set a video camera up somewhere and hide it, but keep it out so that it is pointed at your purse. Tell them you are going outside for a while. Wait for a while outside until you think they are done stealing from you again. Then come inside and make like nothing is wrong. Take the camera out from its hiding place and then watch the tape. If nothing is on it then do it again some other time, but otherwise they should be right there. I wish you the best of luck! Oh, and if you don't have a camera, just hide somewhere and wait for them to come instead.

I like the video cam idea. Set it up (hidden of course) by the purse and then before revealing that you caught someone (if you in fact do) Ask them once again if they know about the money (then you're giving them one last chance to confess) if they still deny then show 'em the tape catching him/her red handed and then punish him/her - 1 for lying and 2 for stealing and make the punishment something they will not forget therefore won't steal again. (taking away favourite item such as ipod/tv or something else that will reall put a damper on their life (that is for a few weeks)

It could of been either one and they usually put the money
under their pillar.
It is best to avoid this situation by keeping money on u at all times and keep nothing but change in your purse.
Just tell them it is not nice to steal.
And if u catch which one that did it they will have no TV for a whole week.

I would punish them both since one is not going to give up the other one. The one that didn't do anything will get revenge on the one that did do it. Make the punishment something creative so this doesn't happen again. Such as a sign around their neck or earlier bed time till start of summer make the bed time while it is still light outside. Or make them do chores or write an essay on why stealing is wrong and make them copy the encylopedia on the page stealing is found on.

I agree, use a hidden digital camera. Then there is not any longer any doubt. in the past you yell at her, discover out the reason. which will confirm how intense her punishment would be. What might scare me approximately $80 being taken is that she is entering into drugs. it incredibly is a very good kind of money for a 12 year previous. i'm hoping this is not any longer the case.

Where do they keep THEIR money? You could always mark a $5 bill (put a red dot on it?) and then wait and see which one has that same bill in his or her wallet, etc.?

Or do what the Wise King Solomon did ... seriously punish both of them until the innocent one objects so strongly at the injustice that it is clear which of the two is innocent ... :-)

When you catch who is doing it, you may want to check and see if the child is stealing "just because" or if somebody on the way to school is taking his or her lunch money, etc. (I'm just suggesting you consider all possibilities).

Try contacting your local police. They will not get the kids in serious trouble, but they can send an officer out to talk to both of them. They will explain how that if any more money comes up missing that they will have to take action. They can tell them that it will not matter which one did it, they will both be punished. ( Usually the punishment for something like thisis, what the parent thinks! ) Community service etc... The fear of getting in trouble with the police is usually enought to scare them out of it! If not then, the innocent one will rat out the guilty one to keep themselves out of trouble! This may sound harsh but, you have no idea what the money is going for. Lord forbide it is drugs., Good Luck

well this is how to prevent it from hapening and figure out whos doing it.alright then hide a camera where they cannot see it an record it(IMPORTANT MAKE SURE THEY DO NOT KNOW THAT YOUR PUTTING UP A CAMERA). you should leave the purse wide open and maksure they dont leave.when you find out who did it, punish em and get back your money. or color or draw on your money where its kinda hard to tell if you did it on purpose or put stuff on it like perfume with a rly strong scent or something that leaves marks on the hands.check em an find out who did it.there is always checking their rooms clothes, stuff or where they hide stuff and every where else.if those still dont work i say punishing em both or tortureing (for a parent i do not recommend) them until to make em spill it out who did it. there are

If it were me I would put them both on a very stringent restriction until one confessed. I would let them know going in that once I get the truth the one not responsible for the theft will be off of restriction and that the other will only be on restriction until you get your money back. At least at that point you will know who you can and cannot trust. Also, I would not use this tactic unless I was certain that one of the two of them took it.
