how many hours per day should i leave my light on. I have three iridescent sharks and a goldfish

Mostly the light is for your benefit. Unless you have plants in your tank you can just run the lights when your there to enjoy the tank. Too much light can certainly contribute to an algae bloom and you don't want that.

I don't use the florescent light if its inside a "main room" were there are a lot of people, because there is a lot of people passing by and the lights are always on there and if its a glass aquarium there is 14% less light that passes through. and by the way did you know those sharks grow like about 3-4 feet long and lives for decades!!

If you have real plants you will need to have your lights on for10-12 hours per day. If you don't, turn the light on whenever you want to enjoy your aquarium. Turning the light on and off ,on and off a whole lot will stress the fish a bit

You should leave your light on no more than 12 hours a day. If algae starts rapidly growing in your tank, then i would try putting it at 10hours and so on. The time when the light turns on and off depends on you. If you are more of a night person, you can turn it off at 11pm.

there are diverse criteria of bulb to boot because the dimensions T12, T8 T5, capacity compact, VHO etc. and, black light fixtures are considered as unfavourable to aquariums, both damage to the fishes eyes, or likely harming the biology through hurting micro organism, it really is a touch farfetched, besides the indisputable fact that that is what's been suggested.

ide leave it on wene people are enjoing youre fish then turn it off any other time because leaving it on will case an algae bloom in the tank (which if bad enough can be pretty troublesome)

with all the tanks we have we never shut out the lights they are always on day and night dont hurt them and have done this for many many years

I would leave it on during the day and just shut it off at night when you go to bed and it should be fine!
