I'm 43. I was in school a couple of different times, but I always somehow went away from my passion for disc jockeying and music. Had a radio gig two different times before I was 23 but they slipped away and I became a career US Navy communications specialist. At 7 I told my parents I did not want music lessons.
I ended up on the radio with Armed Forces Radio in Spain as a volunteer, and I rekindled the old performance fire with 350 hours in a year and a half. At 29, in 1992 I won a huge regional karaoke contest in London. I started writing song lyrics as poetry and started getting really good at it in the late 80's - one poem from 1980 got published.
I have hosted karaoke off and on since 1994. I got divorced in 2004 and was struggling as a security guard. I got picked up hosting karaoke in Tacoma, WA at The Oak Tree as a second job, using my extensive background as a broadcaster, singer and music collector. Moved to Las Vegas over Christmas 2006 to be closer to my children, and I got picked up for a talent show at the Hard Rock Cafe on the 26th of May this year as a singer after doing a karaoke song (Tonic- If You Could Only See) at Ellis Island, a local lounge.
How I wish I had picked up an instrument and taken music seriously.

If anything ? I wish I would have taken things a little slower in life and stopped to "smell the proverbial roses" And the other thing is I didnt realize then, just how valid advice I got from my elders really was! As wisdom and experience come only with age and maturity

Things would have done - in no particular order.
1) Slept with a LOT more women
2) Saved more money
3) Been nicer to people
4) Worked harder in college so I could have gone to medical school
5) Been more ruthless on my enemies
6) Danced more
7) Worried less
8) Confronted my mother's alcoholism
9) Had more kids
Things I wouldn't do again...
1) Marry my first wife

Lol I never thought of myself as older but I guess I am. I can't think of anything I would change if I were able to go back. You see, that would change the whole picture . I love who I am today ! Thanks for asking. You made me take time to ponder and realize I'm pretty darn lucky. Hope you are as lucky in your life. Luck to you

Finished college the first time around, and not have been such a renegade in high school. Ah, hindsight!
