I was at a fundraiser yesterday and I was running I tried to jump over this chain which was I swear no more than 6 inches off the ground I had made this jump several times before but for some reason I didn't make the jump this time and I fell. I landed on my knees. one knee cap just got really scraped up, the other one I landed on it funny and it really hurt. I heard it pop and i could still walk on it and i can still walk on it but if I turn around i feel a pop and it hurts. I can't bend it that well without feeling it pop and it hurting and if i try to stop real fast I feel a pop and pain can any one tell me what might have happened. It doesn't hurt when I stand on it or walk but I don't know... should i see a doctor? I don't want to be taken off the sailing team which might happen if I see a doctor. Can anyone help me? Please

Your knee needs rest. I would recommend that you take a bit of calcium and glucosamine/chondroitin daily to help heal and keep healthy bones. After a week, if it's still the same, you should see a doctor.

OK this is my speciality, I have had SOOO many knee injuries. 8 surgeries in 2 years. Sounds as if you have possibly torn a piece of cartiledge. Of course a small tear will cause pain and complications if not treated. Also, when this happens, it sometimes causes a build up of fliud under the knee cap. This can be drained easily in a doctors office. Its not pleasant, but not painful either. But by all means, I would get it checked out by am orthopaedic surgeon. Knees can be very tricky and cause you long term problems if gone untreated. Good luck and hope you feel better.

I would suggest seeing a doctor. It sounds like you might have a fluid buildup.
On the other hand, a doctor might be able to help you stay on the sailing team as opposed what happened to me when I popped a kneecap. I was barely able to stand up for a week.
Play it safe and have it checked out. Probably save you some grief down the road.

Go to the doctor... your health comes first. Besides that, it's doubtful if you'd be taken off of the sailing team. You may have to wear a brace or something. Now go get to the doctor!

see a doctor! If you have an injury and you ignore it, you could be crippled for life!! The sailing team will be there forever, but you only get one body.
