My life has been made up of turning points ranging from a couple of degrees to a full 180. But when you add up all the minor turning points, it's difficult to see which direction I am now facing.
Okay, enough about the theory. My last major turning point was when I made a stand for something I thought was right, even though most people disagreed with me. It has paid off.

Thanks to the Good Lord, the first major turning point in my life came in 1996 when I survivied a major cancer operation, went through two stem cell augmous transplants, spent a total of 35 days in an isolated intensive care transplant ward in the hospital for advanced cancer. I am so happy to be here today and now God has blessed me with the love of my life and the woman of my dreams and we will be spending the rest of our lives together happy and in love.

i've had many major turning points in my life......

being raped and not trusting men.... getting PTSD and becoming more and more paranoid and delusional.....

when i started dating men again was another turning point..

meeting the man who would eventually become my current husband was a big turning point... it only took us 14 years to get together.... but we are together now and very happy

becoming a mother at the age of 19...afraid that the baby was the rapist's baby..... turned out he wasn't but i didn't know that for many many years.....

becoming a mother a second time...to a preemie baby....who had apnea and had to be on a heart monitor for 15 months...

becoming a mother a third time....with another very difficult pregnancy.....

getting my tubes tied after that

getting fired from a job..that i loved..working with kids... because i couldn't discipline them/control them.....i'm too much of a softy to work with kids..at least middle schoolers...

And recently when I fell in love with a wonderful man and have become so very happy. It will also be another turning point when I move to be with him for the rest of our lives.

I think my first MAJOR turning point was when I met my husband!! I know that it probably sounds mushy and cliche but he quite literally CHANGED MY LIFE!!

I had been in one abusive relationship after another and meeting him was not only the BEST thing that had happened to me, but for the first time in my life someone who didnt HAVE to (like my mom or dad) loved me FOR ME!! He loved me despite my flaws, despite my past and because of who I was on the INSIDE!! He was/is the best and once I met him it was like everything FINALLY made sense and my world stopped spinning around me! I was finally WHOLE!

Yeah yeah.. mushy... but TRUE!!

Since then there have been a few other MAJOR turning points in my life as well including the birth of my first son, the birth and hospitalization of my daughter (she was 6 weeks early and had to be in the NICU for 2 weeks) and the death of my grandmother (whom along w/ my mom RAISED me!)

At age 17, I was raped.

I didn't date for years after that happened because I was extremely scared to talk to someone about the rape if that person and I got close.

Finally, though, I met the man who is now my husband and the biggest turning point in my life was telling him what had happened to me.

It showed me that it wasn't my fault and that I shouldn't be ashamed. Telling my husband helped me to begin the healing process of moving on with my life.

When I got my divorce and custody of my children. It was the reality that even though I was brainwashed that I was not a fit mother...it was the realization that YES I can raise my children and be independent on my own!!! And I have succeeded, of course with hardships along with the GOOD! And of course when death occurs in the family...it makes you realize how short life is!!!

When my father passed away two years ago when I was a senior in highschool. I wasn't going to graduate at all but since he passed away I worked hard and stayed in school to graduate on time. Also I went out and got a job to help myself, my family, and most of all my mom. I'm also now going to college so that I can get a better job and help my family out in a better way.
