First, we must see the simile of the words being used. God is a lighthouse. Lighthouse is a guiding light that leads sailors to safe venture while sailing through the night.
day-symbolizes a bright new life, free of worries and cumbersome burdens
night-symbolizes a dark life, full of perils, predicaments, and worries
God-is all-knowing divine being, Omniscient, and Omnipotent
If God is a lighthouse, we most need him to go with us through all our struggles in life as our guiding light to lead us safe and victor to all life oddballs and sufferings. But God as a lighthouse, stands still in the center, all-knowing and all-seeing , even through the day when we almost think we don't need Him. He is standing tall like a lighthouse waiting for our call even if everything is running smoothly in our quest for our so-called life.

Man I love your questions!
I say yes, especially in places like Alaska or Greenland during winter.
Consider though, God is everywhere and everything so that would make Him the day and the ship and the crew and the shore the lighthouse is on and the........(meltdown).

Great question... Star!!
The lighthouse needs to be kept duly preserved during the entire day to ensure effective availability at night.

If it is really the 'day' well, then it is our 'day' since we have merged into God, not needing therefore, a lighthouse anymore !

If God were a lighthouse it would be to show us that we are also lighthouses.

If it is day, it only means that God has already illuminated the path for you.You no longer actively seek it for it is already there. Only when people are in trying times and turmoil (dark) will they truly appreciate the light and guidance God offers.

*sigh*, it's a metaphor, and it basically means, when you're lost and can't find your way in life, God is there to guide you to safety, if you let him, because he doesn't want anything bad to happen to you if you keep the faith. Same goes for the Prodigal Son, The Lord is My Shepherd, and the many other metaphors out there. That's what it means, so now you know.

In the sunlight or the rain
Brightest nights or darkest days
I'll always feel the same way
Whatever road you may be on
Know you're never too far-gone
My love is there wherever you may be
Just remember that you'll always be my baby
-Sara Evans "You'll always be my baby"
We need Him every hour. Just remember that. Between every heartbeat and every breath in between. We breathe, we live....we love, and are loved, because of Him.
