This is a brand new lawn mower Just bought it last year. It's a yardman 6 hp. It started right away at firt. It ran for about 1 minute and died out. It will not restart. I primed it a few times, pulled the cord over and over till I almost turned blue. I'm tring to avoid taking it in to a shop to be fixed. Do you have any suggestions on how to fix this problem? I drained all the fule out of it and added fresh fuil. Oil level is good. Spark plug is conected and brand new. Thanks you very much.

There should be a "bowl" under the carb. Probably has one screw on the bottom holding it on. Remove the bowl, empty it, and try again. Even though you drained the gas in the tank, there is still old gas in the bowl.

You may want to replace the spark plug again after doing this.

Good luck!

Remove the spark plug and see if it is wet. If it is wet, you've flooded the engine and you'll need to give it some time to dry out before putting the spark plug back. If the plug is dry, maybe the carburetor is not getting any gas. Check the fuel lines and filter.

Try emptying the gas that is in it. Then pour in freshly purchased gas. Follow the startup procedures (prime crank etc). If it doesn't start from that after a few tries get a can of spray starter (ether based fuel in a spray can). Spray that into the intake and then crank it again. It should start at that action.

When I was in that situation I always got mine to start with this procedure. You would be amazed what a difference fresh gas makes.

Go to auto parts store buy some STARTING FLUID .

Then remove the air cleaner and spray it down in there. If its going to start this will start it.

Make sure you have the ON switch in the right position.

I'd check the bowl first and be carefull not to lose the pin when you pull the bowl.
FRESH gas is the key.

You probably just flooded it trying to start it so many times. Take the air filter off and let it dry out and try it again.
