Why not just do the mature thing and take the punishment? You can have your parents call the school, but the school is just going to say you should have told someone you were sick, so it probably won't help at all. Just take the Saturday detention and get it over with. Anything else will put a worse mark on your record.

There is this whole thing about being accountable for your actions. You were supposed to go to detention, and you didn't show up because you were sick. You should have explained this to the dean of your school BEFORE you went home and skipped detention. The dean had no idea you were sick, all they knew was that you skipped detention. Now you are scheduled for Saturday detention. Accept responsibility for your actions, realize you made a mistake by not contacting the dean prior to your going home, and go to Saturday detention. You may not want to, but you have to.
Look at this whole experience as a hard lesson learned. If you really care what is on your record, then you will do whatever is necessary to keep it clean from now on.
You can explain to the dean that you were sick, but in all honesty, I don't think they are going to care one way or the other. They are trying to teach you how to take responsibility for your actions. Having them call your parents to find out if you were really sick doesn't matter. You were supposed to serve out detention, and you didn't. Now you have to suffer the consequences. That's life. You live and learn.
This will not be the worst thing to happen to you. Learn from your mistake. What will you do when confronted with this same situation? Will you make a better choice?

In real life, part of being responsible is calling when you can't make an "appointment." This is the life lesson you should learn from this. Now... as a person who tracks kids who do not show up for detention, you might have a valid excuse. Not only should you have your parents call, but have them put it in writing for documentation. Let your dean know you are willing to serve the first detention (because it was given for a legitimate reason) but will a note excuse you from the Saturday detention....
If you want to be treated like an adult, it is imperative that you ACT like an adult. Be responsible. Next time it happens, call and let them know you are sick and cannot serve. Don't do this too many times or it will catch up with you and you will never be believed again.

The process of becoming an adult is about taking responsibility for one's actions, especially when one makes a mistake. You made a mistake; you should have told the Dean that you were sick and arranged for another detention time. Of course you should tell your parents, but it is more important that you take responsibility for your failure to tell the Dean of your illness. You should do the Saturday detention.

The manner in which you are stating it implies you actions lead to this punishment. Thus serve your alternative punishment on Saturday since you did not attend your detention. This is much better than a suspension.
Not to be heartless but if you were as sick as you stated then you would have gone home earlier during the day and would have an rationale to provide to your Dean.

Put your shovel down because you are digging yourself into a great big hole. Go to Sat. detention, and get it over with, and try to be good until school is over. You do not want to be a problem to your teachers and parents, so just do it, detention, and end it right there. If you are good, then you will not need to be punished, so make everybody happy, and show them you are sorry for whatever you did,and soon , it will be summer, and no more school.

Ok, as an assistant principal, I have to tell you just to suck it up and go. It won't kill you. You made a choice that got you detention. Then you made the choice not to go to detention. You'll make yet another bad choice if you don't go to Sat. detention. Do you see the pattern?

i think u get detention these days just for chewing bubble gum in school, u should not be made to go to school on Saturdays.
Tell your parents to call the school, and try to stay out of trouble at school, try your best and get to college one day or u will be in a low income job like most americans.
