The U.S. is a real democracy. It's just over the past 15 or so years it doesn't appear that way; particularly during the past 6.
The statement following your question says a lot about those who don't exercise their right to vote and basically says that they are stupid; which is a correct statement.
However, the mainstream media is against the Republican party and has always been on the left side of the aisle. Haven't you watched the news and Hollywood types lately or have you been hiding in some hole for the past 6 years?

The GOP is not all about the rich, although Im sure a Senator or two do reflect that. The Dems cater to the rich equally. Values like traditional marriage and prolife are in everyones interests, not just the rich. The Dems and Reps alike have good ideas for the poor and the middle class. Tax cuts do heelp the rich, but also help the middle class out a lot too.

You are watching too much CNN. You are starting to believe whatever they tell you. Did you do your own taxes this year ? Did you see the $500 per child tax credit ? How about the reduction of the marriage penalty ? These are breaks for you and me that the Democrats never gave us. How about our record breaking high stock market ? More home sales in the past 5 years than any 5 year peroid since Kennedy was in office, due to our great low interest rates. And by the way, employment is over 94%. And check out how much money Hillary and Obama took in before you talk about those rich Republicans.

In a "Real Democracy" parties would not exists. The voters don't elect a congress in a democracy, they ARE the congress. If you thing the media is controlled by Republicans, please explain why ABC,CBS, NBC and CNN routinely blame everything negative on Republicans and give Democrats credit for everything positive. This in not a comment on whether that is justified, just an observation. America has never been, nor was it ever intended to be a democracy. What we really need is to learn civics. For those of you who have no clue what civics is, it deals with the rights and duties of citizens.

No, because the GOP also reflects social conservatives who, while being hurt by the economic policies of the party, reap social benefits.
We do have a democracy. The flaw in your argument is that it assumes that the majority of people are single issue voters (economic issues). This is erroneous and reflects a misunderstanding of the American electorate.
