You can get information about Pharmacy schools from the website of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy AACP (google) . There are no bad pharmacy schools, they all teach the same thing and when you get out you have a Doctor of Pharmacy degree. Its tough academically though -- you need to be good at chemistry and math. But the rewards are great -- very high paying jobs and job security. Check out the websites of the schools near you -- maybe you can get into your state university school of pharmacy and save a pile of money.

Ohio Northern University in Ada, Ohio is known for its pharmacy program. It is highly competative though. There were students this past year with a 4.0 GPA and ACT scores 30 or above who were not granted acceptance into the program, but were granted acceptance to the university. However, it could be that the applications came in late or some other circumstance. If you get your application in on time and have other reasonable credentials, a 4.0 probably isn't necessary. It's worth applying at least. They'll waive the application fee if you come to visit the school. It is a 6 year program, and you are in the program from the time you enroll in the University and graduate with a PharmD. It is a small school so there are many leadership and research opportunities, if you are interested in those. It is a highly regarded school for its pharmacy program, and it really does provide the best of both worlds (reputation and great education as well as small classes and great interaction with professors). Ohio Northern is a private school though, and tuition is high. If you have the grades to get into the pharmacy program though, the chances that you will get a scholarship that covers most of tuition are pretty high, which would leave you paying less than a state school or as much as in most cases. It's worth looking into. http://www.onu.edu

Some may or may not consider it to be in the Midwest, but the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy is consistently in the national top 10. They are especially known for their clinical pharmacy, so if you're considering that as a career path look into them. http://www.mc.uky.edu/pharmacy/
