The water vapor condenses around an airborne particle of dust or some other solid. The condensation is caused by cooling experienced as water vapor rises higher into the atmosphere.

A rain drop is an accumulation of condesed water vapor in the air to make clouds, which furthur condense to make water drops heavy enough to drop to the ground.
