i have a solid state electronic tach /dwell/voltmeter.It has two leads black and green..where do they attach?

It registers for 6 and 8 cylinders .I want to use it on a single cylinder motorcycle that does not have a tach. where do i attach the leads

if it is not made to read a single cylinder rpm, it wont work. But if you want to try anyway, the green lead goes to the positive connection at the coil and the black goes to ground.

Try attaching it to the (+) terminal of the coil and ground. You probably won't get an accurate reading because your meter isn't calibrated for a single cylinder engine.
