The key in my 1990 Pontiac Sunbird LE will turn to the "on" position, but when I turn it to the "start" position, it wont budge, like there is something preventing it from moving. I have tried moving the wheel from side to side, turning the wheel, shifting in and out of park, different key, and all all have been no good. Key worked fine half hour before.

When you mean 'it won't budge' I assume you mean the KEY and not the Car.

Sounds like your ignition lock has broken internally. Drive the car to a locksmith (if you can get it to start one more time) - maybe by jumping the starter wire (I also assume the wheel will TURN) and have them replace the switch. Should run you about $60 or so depending upon where you live. Its a moderate replacement at home, but youi need a steering wheel puller and not everyone has that in their tool box.

good luck.

If by wheel you mean steering wheel i'm wrong, but this happens to me and I just have to jiggle the steering wheel back and forth and then it will turn over. Other than that I suggest calling click and clack and asking them!

Try starting it in neutral.

The Click and Clack someone referred to above are affiliated with
