I'd rather be blunt...it is not what life is about.
You can't runaway from challenges of life. You have to choose and choose wisely.
Enjoy life, the good, bad and the beautiful!

Advantages? I suppose that you have more time to study the spiritual...I suppose.
But it is hardley the point of life, especially if you are the type to believe in an afterlife.
What good are all the spiritual truth's of never applied? How can our spirits grow if never challenged? How can they learn when never presented with anything new?
I think any spiritual person would get more out of being spiritual and living in the world than by trying to be spiritual by seperating themselves from the world. And where is the world left if all the spiritual people leave it?

Advantages - no rent, free food
Disadvantages - hard work, cold empty cell, ugly clothes, no talking, praying hard on the knees, early bedtime, early rising, no girls allowed to stay over, you make wine but you dont get to drink it, no TV, no computer

It would be quiet and peaceful and less stressful. I don't think I could give up my material comforts and live as a monk though.
