I find nothing more relaxing than sitting downstairs drinking a soda listening to bach or bethoven. It seems that the modern world has forgotten about the most old and most talented music.

Are there other classical music lovers here? Why is it not enjoyed by the new generation? I'm 17 and love it. Peer pressure doesn't rule my music choice.

While it hasn't been forgottten, many schools no longer offer music and art appreciation classes, as they did back in my high school days in the '60's. Anyone can enjoy good music of any type without formal training. But a little guidance in how to analyze a symphony or how to make sense of an opera goes a long way.

Peer pressure shouldn't count in selecting music. Lawrence Tibbett, one of the greatest American baritones who sang both classical and popular songs, remarked, "There's no bad music. Only bad performers."

I'm 14 and I enjoy classical as well as lots of popular bands that people my age are listening to. I like that in classical the instruments speak for themselves better than any punk rocker's lyrics ever could, and I love that the music has so much more feeling and paints such a vivid picture or tells a story.

I think the younger generation doesn't enjoy classical as much because it's seen as something "old people" like. And t you don't get to go to a classical concert and crowd surf or mosh, and the artists aren't clad in tight pants and eyeliner so all the girls have crushes on them.

I'm sure many teenagers could learn to appreciate classical, but it will never really be a part of popular teenage culture for those reasons.

People like the guitar and rythem from the drums. Classical guitar is around although those artists aren't as well known as the pianists.

I listen to everything. Though most of the time i listen to hardcore rock and techno/dance/trance, every now and then i listen to classical. I like more "depressing sounding/ serious" classical music. I don't really like the happy sounding stuff. I play the flute though.
