I own a Cagllari Pocket Bike. It has a 47cc Single Cylinder, 2 Stroke, Air Cooled engine. It goes up to 40 MPH. I live in Illinois. I was wondering if they are legal to operate on the sidewalk? If not, is there a way I can bypass the Law or throw something in their face (like another law, not a rock) if they stop me? A loop hole is what I am looking for. Well anything right now is good because I can only operate it on MY PROPERTY currently.

Probably not legal, although this is based upon local law... At the very least, the State requires you to wear eye protection when you are riding your 'speed machine'.. I did not have time to check, but registration and a title (and perhaps a license plate) may also be required. I would check with the local municipal law first because it is very likely that they prohibit these types of vehicles on sidewalks if that fails then check the state - online at www.ilga.gov here are some relevant parts that I found..

Sec. 1‑145.001. Motor driven cycle defined: Every motorcycle and every motor scooter with less than 150 cubic centimeter piston displacement including motorized pedalcycles.

I have noticed more and more states are making the pocket bikes illegal to operate on the streets. and there not able to be licensed for street use because there to small and hard to see there are a lot of scooters and mopeds that cant be licensed at all .what may be legal in one state may not be in another and no motorized bike is legal run on the sidewalk or even in bike lanes thats a pretty much in all 50 states

I'd be willing to bet that there is a law against operating motor vehicles on the sidewalk. SUCK IT UP and get a real bike.

Sidewalk = side + walk, as in a place to walk along side the road (out of the travelled way).

How hard is that? Grade school english? More like common sense.
