Well, other tetras are usually a good starting place, just pick one's with a similar adult size. Most small barbs like cherry, checkerboard and golds do well. I personally like rasboras and cory catfish with tetras. All of the common live bearers and killifish usually do quite well with tetras. Some of the dwarf South American cichlids make good tank mates for tetras, but they are generally touchier to keep than the other choices.

all types of mollys and guppys as these seem to behave well with most other fish as they aren't known for being territorial. I've kept all sorts with tetra's without any problems. gourami's are nice colourful fish kept usually in pairs that I think could go quite well with tetra's.

Tetras are quite peaceful fish, when i had them i had them with mollies, swordtails, platies, guppies and most plecs and catfishes will be ok with them and a had a redtailed black shark with them too. because they like to be in groups most fish leave them alone as they are out numbered. But when you go to buy them in the shop it may be best to ask if you have any fish in mind that you wanna buy to go with the tetras. good luck . x =o)

fish of a similar family...danios, guppies...your best bet is to go to the pet store and under the tetras aquarium they should have a tab with the name and a description including what fish make good tank mates...if not just ask your petstore manager or the lead of the fish department for the store....sometimes trial and error is all you can count on but as far as pet store advice goes-petco and petsmart workers seem to be well-educated on the subject

i have black shirt, black fantum, columbian, pristella, neon, rummynose, and diamond tetras. I also have harliquin rasboras, danios, an angel, snowball pleco, cherry and checker barbs, etc. small, non aggressive fish are good with tetras. Also small dwarf cichlids will usually not harm your tetras, uless they have spawned.

Are you sure you have the name right as I thought tetras was the name of a fish food?
