I have three rebate checks from out of state banks and I cant afford the minimum $300.00 to start a savings account because I don`t make enough.Is there a way to do it?

Someone said walmart will.I thought they would only cash a local work or personal check.Please elaborate.Has anyone done this?

I don't have a bank account. I don't think everyone needs one either.
I cash any check I receive at my local Safeway customer service desk.
Works great.

Who told you that you needed 300 to open an account. You don't need anything to open a checking account. Some banks take 50 but most don't require anything. OR you can use the rebates to open the account with manager approval.
Or lastly you can go woth a friend who does have an account to cash them for you. You have to be there to verify your signature.

Open a checking account... most banks don't require minimum balances for checking accounts, and you should have one anyway. Otherwise it is going to be hard to cash them, but one thing you can do is get a friend who has an account at a bank and sign the checks over to them and let them cash them. Go with him to his bank and the teller will explain the process.

did you check some other banks? $300 minimum seems hi. everyone should have a bank account.
