i have a chevy malibu 98 . it start but it shuts off instenly . the manual says it might be flooded.if it is how do i fix that but i dont feel it is

If it was flooded, it wouldn't start.

If, hypotheticaly, it was flooded, you would hold the gas pedal to the floor as you cranked the engine to get more air through the engine.

Many GM cars have an oil pressure switch to disable the fuel pump if there is no oil pressure.

You might want to pull the dipstick to see if your engine oil level is OK.

what you have asked could have many many answers. a car wont start for one of two reasons, there is no gas getting to cylinder or no spark. you could have a clogged fuel filter, bad fuel pump, bad fuel injectors, sensors that have gone bad. if the check engine light has come on, that would give you an idea of what is wrong. other than that it could be a hundred things. good luck.
