the ticket prizes were too expensive some persons in the Caribbean just could not offord it. despite some hiccups like the duration of the tournament and empty seats i think it was a good world cup alot of records and the best team won. i don't think the final was ruined i totally enjoyed no one could be blamed for the rain. the Caribbean is not a rich place the region did all it could to accommodate the world please be grateful.

I am from the Caribbean and it was not surprisig how the game turned out (with the exclusion of the murder). This is not the first time that local were kept out of a game by the pricing of tickets. Other well known events were staged in some of these islands and the locals did not even know that they were occuring on till the opening week. The thing is tourism is a lucrative industry in the region and many of the private investors and the regional government have, in the past, successfully milk the cow dry (so tp speak). With the prediction of over 100,000 foreigners (not caribbean locals) coming to the region, this was seen as the biggest cash cow ever. Therefore they had to capitalise on it the only way they knew how. By souring the milk for locals so that they would not want to come or could not attend the games. This was done through the many restrictions placed on people (who in my opinion are the very definition of free living) and pricing the ticket out of the range of locals. I mean how many families would be able to send there two or three children to one game when the ticket were priced at US$90 per person. For many people in the caribbean that price range cannot be achieved.
Therefore it is my belief that the Caribbean government, private investors and the West Indies cricket aurthorities should share in the blame and give an apology not only to the locals of the caribbean but to the whole world for trying to put there greed ahead of hosting a game that should have shown the best of the caribbean.

Should an apology be sent TO the West Indies authorities? I think they and the ICC share a big chunk of the blame.

16 nations should be able to conclude a World cup in less than 6 weeks. Football had 32 nations competing over 1 calendar month.

Banning drums and instruments was ridiculous and missed the point of playing in the West Indies - proven by the fact the organisers backed down in the last few matches,

One of other reasons for playing in the Caribbean was re invigorate cricket in the region - yet the locals were priced out of the tournament, leading to half empty stadiums filled with deafening silence, Silly rules seem to damage every tournament now whether it is a cola drink banning any rival products or security procedures meaning there are still queues outside the ground halfway through the first innings.

$300 million spent on building stadiums which in the future are more likely to be used for football than cricket. Jamaica borrowed heavily from the Chinese government - I don't know what the political ramifications of that will be.

One of the best comments came from Jon Agnew in the early stages of the tournament - he said something along the lines of "What the ICC don't seem to realise - Yes they could earn more more money by doing 'XYZ' but should they?"

Finally I doubt any tournament could have witnessed the death of Bob Woolmer during it and not be overshadowed. The fallout from that is far from over with toxicology tests unofficially announced as positive. I said it just after he died - cricket is eating itself.

Still the English county cricket season is well under way. and we are only 2 weeks off the First Test against the West Indies!

Buddy i couldnt agree more...!!! I was in Antigua and it was a farce!!! locals weren't interested much cos they couldn't afford a ticket and when they could there were so much red tape and do's and don'ts they might as well have been watching cricket at lords!!!!!!!!!! The atmosphere was shyte.
I wont be going to an ICC run event ever again.

First of all the world cup went on for two months so the people got bored of watching it and the tickets were very high.

Yeah, that was quite the fiasco. Coaches don't usually get murdered at international sports events. I guess Pakistan and India being eliminated is what caused the empty seats.
