I assume this is a historical question. UK has much more history than USA. But which is better? While the UK was very good at exploration and colonization, it was also much better at destroying other cultures and exploiting the people. Of course, the US has done some of the same, particularly to American Indians. It's hard to separate though because some of the practices of the US (slave trade) were just an extension of what countries taken over by the Brits were already doing. So, does that make the US any better? no. Again, less history.
All that said, no country who did exploration is free of these practices. The Dutch, French, etc. pretty much did the same.

Much of a muchness at the moment. Both have elected governments which prefer to spend money on the military than solving home problems.
Right now I'd plump for the UK. You're less likely to get your coffee served in a polystyrene beaker.

Wow Davros----that is one provocative question. UK and USA are two different nations with different outlooks---each has different needs and perceptions. It is not a case of better ot worse. Ask yourself this----which nation gobbles up the Earth's resources at an alarming rate.

Were both great and can be great allies. I think questions like this are just designed to stir the poo in the loo. Our Countries probably have more in common than not. I also believe that neither country would hesitate to help the other when needed.
Thank you all in the UK.

Since we are in History were you after a historical answer?
I think the USA has done a better job of building a continental empire than Great Britain did.

Neither - they're both different and can't be compared as if they're the same. Both have their good qualities and bad qualities like everywhere else - I've lived in both and don't mind either way because there's things I have to deal with in one that I don't in the other and vice versa. Really depends on which style of living you prefer.

In what regard? In which area? In what meaning? Better is quantitative, how do you define better?
I have lived in both, for extended periods of time. Both are great, and both have serious problems.
