I just purchased a 1 yr CB Hermann's Tortoise on Saturday and he has not eaten or drank anything since we came home. All he wants to do is crawl into his hiding place and sleep, I think he's sleeping. Is this normal? Or is this adjustment behavior he is showing. If anyone has any advice on what I can do or what's going on, this new Tortoise mom would love to hear it.

Do not worry he is probably stressed from the move, many reptiles will not eat for several days after being moved to a new place. As far as drinking he is a tortise, you won't see him drink often. If you are worried you can raise the temperature, but he should be fine.

Double check the care guidelines at a knowledgeable site, such as http://www.tortoisetrust.org

If the basic cares and diet are rock solid, then it could be sheer stress- they often hide after a big change.
