My aunt has a stalker like person at work, she said she would always bother her and talk to her. I said just tell her flat out she needs to leave you alone because if your boss thinks you're slacking off you won't get that promotion.
Later she was talking to her daughter on the phone and said to her "You give GREAT advice my niece said I was overreacting and to be nice to the girl but you're right I should tell her to leave me alone when I'm working"
I was like WTF??

That's happening for either one of two reasons. One reason is because some people hear only what they want to hear and nothing else. The second reason is that some people make assumption about what people are saying. As I say assumptions are the mother of all (expletive) ups.

Misquoting can get you into a heap of trouble. It can lose your friends, cause undue and unjustifiable reputation loss on others and yourself and could even cause loss of life especially if you misquote the wrong person .
