Those are generalizations, but they're still quite true. Most men (gay or straight) are nothing more than cheating bastards.

I don't know about factual stats on this, but your theory makes sense in that women, for the most part, have the nurturing tendencies, and emotions like hope, as well as a priority toward intimacy rather than just sex, that make for stable homing & relationshipping. Men, on the other hand, although the logic balancer, are extremely sexual in nature...often, the smaller of the brains rules,(LOL), and this is usually the difficulty of most man relationships, whether hetero or gay....anyway, just thoughts....

They say this because of the idea that women are interested in long-term relationships while men are just interested in sex.

According to all the stereotypes, men only care about sex in a relationship. I guess that's what "they" mean by that.
