A two-parter about Vin:

When the Dodgers first moved to LA, it was chic to bring a transistor radio to Dodger Stadium to listen to Vin while watching the game. Scully didn't know how many people did it, so one time he suggested that everyone, on three, yell out Happy Birthday to one of the game's umpires. The reponse was deafening.

Here's the near part: Scully is said to have thought afterwards that he abused his power as a broadcaster by doing that, and he never tried anything like it again. That's the sort of class act he is.

There are all sorts of stories about what a gentleman Scully has been over the years. Maybe the best baseball announcer ever.
