They're trying too hard to impress.

My thoughts about people getting all dressed up to go to the movie theater is as long as they are happy is what counts. That is what matters. Being happy right?

Well it depends on what you considering to be "dressed up". If they're wearing something like they're about to go to the Opera or the Oscars and wearing all sorts of make-up then that's just ridiculous. I dress fancy many times for no reason but nothing to the extreme. Just fancy pants and a nice shirt I'll wear on a casual day but I don't consider that dressing up in any way shape or form.

i think its stupid its pitch black in the theater and nobody is going to be paying any attention to you they're going to be watching the movie so why bother trying to look nice? i mean don't get me wrong i put on make and stuff but as far as what i'm wearing i always wear jeans and a t-shirt.

I guess they're just trying to make an impression, though not when the lights in the theatre go out before a movie starts, of course.

It is fun to dress up and go out sometimes, but I would dress up to go somewhere else... I mean you ARE just going to be sitting in the dark for 2-3 hours.

I think that is really dumb to dress up bcuz your at a movie theater! I think it is appropriate to wear jeans and a cute top (if ur a girl). if ur a boy, you could wear jeans and a polo or t-shirt

this world has turned into competition on dressing so of course they want to look good and i think that is both good and bad because ppl are taking good care and on the other hand they might make the world all about fashion:)

Hmmm, I understand it if you are on a date or something...then it is fine! But if it is just you and the girls, or you and some friends, there is no point in looking like a prom queen. You're in a dark room most the night. But eh, people can do whatever they feel like, I suppose. :]
Good question!
Cheers!
