Please include how much it is and where can I buy it and the features I will need. Most of the stuff I'll be doing might be using Microsoft Word, Power Point presentation, E-mailing back to my family... My university has the wireless conectivity... whatever that is.

Universities will typically have a section of their website devoted to answering just this question. They'll recommend hardware and sometimes offer student discounts at the university store.
Do some digging on your university's website.

I presently have an acer 5100-5540 that was manufactured after nov 2006 it cost approximately $1000.00 CA, It has 2 gigs of ram, 120GB hard drive, DVD RW multi disc recorder wireless G and 15.4 wiidescreen and windows VIsta.
The system is easy to set up and very similar components of the higher end ferrari model from Acer, comparably it is approximately 2-400.00 cheaper than HP, Compaq and Sony for equivalent specs, ACER has been in business for over 30 years and is well experienced in the industry. They can be bought at Staples, Best Buy and many other locations

I'm in college and I have a HP pavilion dv5000.. it is wireless ready...I got it from Office Max, it was about $1000.00. I have DSL internet srvice so I had to buy a wireless router but u can't go but so far from it, u may have to go satellite wireless through a cell phone and that's exspensive.. But I really don't know about that..

I would suggest buying a compaq off the net that doesn't have vista installed on it. Stay away from dells. buy a mac/apple
