My mom was always the one doing the disciplining. Usually I got spanked and then I was sent to my room and couldn't turn on the tv. Sometimes she would get out a wooden paddle just to scare me.

Bamboo chutes under the finger nails, electric shocks with a battery charger attached to wet sponges, sleep with the rats in a wire cage for the night. My dad ran a prisoner camp in Vietnam.
Not really, just trying to get someone to go "what the hell!" I was spanked with a big azz belt by my father! Mom would just cry and then say those wonderful words...."wait till your father gets home".

I got sent to my room in accordance with my age: 10 minutes for 10 years, 16 minutes for 16 years, etc. Of course this never bothered me much because I had a television set and all of my toys in there.

I am / was a middle "child". 3 girls and our ages are currently 46, 42 & 38. I usually managed to not get punished but my two sister did! By my dad, it was the belt and my mom, her hand.
My thoughts on the belt and a good slap with my mom's hand, you ask? Good job mom & dad! It taught us that there was a consequence for our actions.
I have 2 boys, they are 21 & 20 now, but I had a paddle for them and used it when it was needed or, I used my hand but that would truely hurt me more than it hurt them! (we still laugh about their paddling's, they tell me now that they would fake crying and I really used to feel bad for punishing them).
Good question, thanks, it brings back good memories of my past 42 years!
Oh, my husband (oldest of 3 boys), has been pushed down the steps, pushed through a screen door, beaten with a belt (not just hit with it, but beaten), and worst of he all says, was when his mom would hit him across the face with the stinky, wet, dirty dish rag - gross!
We both, in addition to our brothers and sisters, have a great relationship with our parents, we love them deeptly!

I got the belt, backhanded, got called all kinds of names (not good ones) sent to my room without supper, couldn't go anywhere. All this is a crime now.

Toys were taken away from me or I was sent to my room .. pretty boring compared to the rest :p
I was never smacked or spanked or anything like that.
The worst was the 'I'm not angry, i'm disappointed' always a killer!
