Multiply through by 8 (gets rid of fractions)...80x -2=72x +3

Subtract 72x from both sides of eqn.............8x - 2 = 3

Add 2 to both sides........................................ 8x = 5

Multiply by 1/8 (divide by 8, same thing).......x = 5/8

10x - 1/4 = 9x + 3/8

10x - 9x = 1/4 + 3/8

x = 2/8 + 3/8

x = 5/8

10x-9x-1/4=9x-9x+3/8

x-1/4=3/8
Make the denominators the same
x-2/8=3/8
x-2/8+2/8=3/8+2/8
x=5/8

10(5/8)-1/4=9(5/8)+3/8
50/8-1/4=45/8+3/8
50/8-2/8=35 3/8+3/8
48/8=48/8
6=6

5/8 =x is correct

x=5/8
convert 1/4 to 2/8. add 2/8 to 3/8 since it is negative. subtract 9x from 10x. this leaves 1x= 5/8

10x-1/4=9x+3/8

First multiply through by 8 to get rid of the fractions.

80x - 2 = 72x + 3

Now combine terms

80x - 72x = 3 + 2

8x = 5

Solve for x

divide both sides by 8

x = 5/8

Check your work by plugging x = 5/8 back into the original equation.

X=5/8
You need to convert the fraction then bring it to the other side of the equation.
After that subtract 9x from both sides to leave X alone. This will give you your answer.
