I pick and choose. A good attempt gets a thumbs up. Anything abusive or offensive or completely irrelevant gets a quick thumbs down.

i pick and choose. on opinionated answers i usually dont give thumbs down but i still give thumbs up. if they have their facts wrongs then i give a thumbs down. if the facts are right and they gave good details then they will recieve a thumbs up.

I thumbs up only answers that I consider good answers... or, if the person has made an obviously considered effort... to answer a difficult question.
I thumbs down abusive, inconsiderate, racist, sexist, anti Christian, anti other people's faiths, whatever they may be... and any overt derogatory, or insensitive types of answers!
In other words... I pretty much respond as I would if the person were standing before me and saying something... my behaviour online is exactly the same off!
