I was planning on a fence, with the sign on it, and behind it a horse and its rider on it...anything else? It's a contest.

How about making a very large Blue Ribbon in the middle of the poster. In the middle of the circle part of the ribbon, put the horse. The scene behind the ribbon could be a country farm scene. The fence you wanted and maybe a barn and some hay bails. Or if you want the more professional touch, put barrells and such behind it. Just a thought, especially if you look at the horse as being a potential blue ribbon winner!

I would put more that signifies the different events. If simplicity is a feature, then I would convert part of the name to a fence/obsticle and have the horse and rider jumping the word at the top and a dressage type horse and rider (poised) at the bottom.

Make a sign that says steeplechasing is cruel to horses then picket your state legislature for funds.
